Sculptural work
Shaped like the human body - strong, yet vulnerable. The pink ribbon and the raised arms forming a heart became ways for me to feel connected to the loved ones, and to hold onto the idea that love continues even when someone is no longer here.
A fish caught mid-struggle, surrounded by hooks. The piece is about the pressure and exhaustion felt by marine life.
A crackle-glazed vessel split red and blue, a donkey and an elephant at its rim. About setting aside our differences and remembering that we are all shaped from the same clay.
Horse hair, obvara, and naked raku side by side - three atmospheres, three surfaces.
Obvara fired. Two pieces fired the exact same way came out looking nothing alike.
